Some Ways People Trade the Market
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
There are literally thousands of stock trading strategies that people use to make money from the stock market. However all of these strategies fall into one of these 3 categories.
1. Short Term Trading
The first strategy that people use to make money from the stock market is called short term trading. This is where traders attempt to make money on the short term movements of stocks, whether that be just a few days or just a few minutes.
Short term traders as a result will have a lot of losses, but the idea here is to keep the losses short and the wins big so that over the long term they make money.
2. Momentum Trading
Stocks tend to trend, either up or down. They can trend for years on end, if you have ever seen a bulls market you know that it is possible for stocks to just continue to go up, even when there is nothing fundamentally right going on with them.
A trend trader attempts to catch a stock that is going up and hold onto that stock as long as it keeps going up. There is no need to know anything about the company as long as the stock keeps going up and keeps making them money.
If at any point the stock starts turning around then it is time to exit out of the position and look for other opportunities out there.
3. Long Term Trading
Another strategy is to look for fundamentally strong stocks. Stocks that are backed by strong companies and dividend paying stocks which give off a nice consistent income can be great long term investments.
Over the long term companies that are fundamentally strong should last and they should keep growing and overall become profitable for their investors.
Those are the three major strategies out there for the stock market. Figuring out which one fits you best and sticking to it is the way to succeed.
