This is due to a new system in Texas that actually allows law enforcement officers and other approved individuals to verify the insurance coverage that a driver claims to have. This is in an effort to protect Texas motorists.
Whether people realize it or not, Texas auto insurance laws are in place for a purpose. They are for the protection of people and their property. Huge expenses can be involved in a motor vehicle accident. Not only damage expenses can result, but also those for medical injuries. Many times, people do not have the money to pay for these costs out of their pocket, as they can be hundreds of thousands of dollars.
So, don't stop paying your insurance coverage. First of all, it is a risk no one can afford. Second of all, you will be willingly and knowingly breaking the law. If you choose to do so, you can expect that there will be repercussions.
