The US Economy Are At The Mercy Of The Fed For The Remainder Of The Year
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
What will the Fed or FOMC or the Board of Governors do to improve the state of the economy? It is a topic discussed in media, the local lounge and at the office. Investors want to know so that they can act on the information before the year ends.
Clearly, with all this talk, there is an opinion to suite everyone. So what to do? Well, there are some things that you can count on. Even in a crazy economy there are some truths.
Well you can wait for word from on the Hill. Or, you can make your decision on partial information. Or, you can do what history tells us works.
Of course you might do what all those really rich folks do. Kick the timing habit and become a nice boring solid investor. One who gets nice, solid boring returns on investments year after year. One who can afford to ignore the current version of what the street is spinning today.
Investors peer into their crystal balls hoping that the powers that be will give them a hint. What if you put a towel over the crystal ball and just did the dull, boring, safe things? You know, invest regularly. Sell when a certain profit level was reached. Sell when a loss was at a particular percentage.
Kicking the habit means not caring what the spin is up to this morning. The daily propaganda would seem quite irrelevant. Oh you might want to keep up with what was happening in business of course. You could skip the smoke and mirrors. Adrenaline would become a distant memory.
But it is all so boring. It lacks glitz. And you would be yawning all the way to the bank. The news would have no hold on your adrenaline ducts. There you would be. Financial plan charted out. Revising it on the basis of what a company or fund was actually doing. Sleeping well would be something new would it not?
