Common And Major Causes For Women's Hair Loss
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
The incidence of hair loss in women is pretty much the same as it is for men. However when you start looking at the reasons between the two genders, hair loss can happen for more reasons in women. Why do so many women struggle with losing their hair? Do women have any power or control over this situation? With so much time and energy being spent on coming up with ways for men to keep or regrow the hair that they have lost does it surprise you to learn just how many women (hundreds of thousands) suffer from hair loss as well? Please continue reading to discover a few reasons why women also suffer from hair loss.
It may not be much of a surprise to know that some medications will directly cause women to lose their hair. One widely known procedure, chemotherapy, will cause this to happen. Also for other medications, it's just the interaction between the drug and a woman's chemistry that causes hair loss. But it's not always a case of hair actually falling out. In such situations, it's merely a cessation of new hair growth that is the effect. This can make it look like a woman is suffering from hair loss when she is actually suffering from no hair growth. It's hard to tell the difference between the two.
If you have hair loss, consider how much stress you are under in your life because that can be a contributor to hair loss. The amount of hair growth and loss you experience is influenced by the stress in your life. During stressful conditions, it is true that some women will lose more hair and more quickly. However, a reduced rate of hair growth is the reaction mechanism for other women. Use simple relaxed breathing to help, and all you do is take deep and long, but not forced, breaths. You just need to find, or make, time to relax each and every day, even if it's for a short time. As you know, as well, relaxation is good for many other reasons in addition to healthy hair.
It is common with some chronic medical conditions for a woman to experience hair loss. The thing about so many is that the hair loss is due to the medication and not the particular condition. In other situations, if there is hair loss involved it is a symptom, and that will help the physician make a diagnosis. Unfortunately many times with chronic conditions, it will be for the lifetime of the patient. There isn't a cure for it, so the symptoms tend to be managed. In so many cases, there are no other alternatives for medication, so that means the hair loss will have to be lived with. You do have options in the area of coping with the hair loss, and there are some options for you - just talk to your doctor.
Men's hair loss is much more widely discussed than women's hair loss. Maybe this is because women are not "supposed" to lose hair unless they choose to remove it voluntarily. Women may very well be more reluctant to seek professional help because they're more sensitive about it which is understandable. This will change though, we certainly do hope. Research, time, and public awareness will hopefully shed more light on this area.
