Taking the Sacrament, What it Presents And Why Christians Practice It Today
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
Have you at one time wondered of the sacrament and its initiator, though not in all religions you could have heard of the same and even gotten an opportunity to have it or shared it with fellow worshipers. The sacrament is thought to have been begun by Jesus and he himself gave it a reference name as his body, which he said shall be given to us all to share, and do so ever for the purpose of his remembrance.
Good readers of the scriptures can agree with this; that, before his arrest, Jesus gathered all his followers to celebrate last supper with them. He took bread, looked unto heaven gave thanks; he broke it and gave it to his disciples to share, saying it was his body given to them. This is what he too did to a cup of wine and referred it to his blood that should be shed for our sins to be cleaned.
This drives us to a point that, a sacrament is the body of Christ that takes away sins, and in sharing it we commemorate His arrest, suffering and death on the cross therefore his resurrection to a victorious seat. The sharing of sacraments among Christians is done in churches today in the form of the Holy Communion; this is for the followers who've undergone baptism and repented their sins ready to receive the body of Jesus who saved them.
Though debate is there of what form the sacrament should be, different churches take different delicacies to represent the same, however it should be one prepared of flour and with no yeast or barley.
Jesus' life was full of examples to follow; Christians have been on the track right from Jesus' baptism, works involved with his mission like those of evangelizing and helping the needy. Why then not practice the initiation of the sacrament the same way Jesus did it without any changes?
The Catholic Church has implemented other sacraments which they work by in their Christianity missionary, compared with other religions which have got none. This has confusion too as the issue of which is the right way of practicing the initiation of the sacrament, and perhaps to pay no mind to that every Christian denomination has its own way of practicing it.
To attain Christianity absolutely we should follow what Jesus showed us without having made any changes, Jesus is the way and the truth, stand by what he wants.
Do you think and view Jesus as the one who started the sacrament in the form of his own body?
