No woman wants to be known as bridezilla. Just hearing the word conjures up images of a monster with a bouquet, veil and wedding dress. Your wedding is the one day when you want to look like a princess, so this makes it even worse to be tagged with such a dreadful name. In order to make sure that you don't lose it on your wedding day, here are a few things to keep in mind.
Everyone Should Enjoy Your Wedding
Although the service itself is a traditional ceremony imbued with symbolism, tradition and meaning, the reception itself is just one big party. And parties should be fun. Yes, it's a party that you have spent many months and many thousands of dollars planning. But as much as you try, when the day comes, the details will be out of your hands. You have to stand back, and trust that the pros will do their jobs.
When little things go wrong, such as the cake you ordered turns out to be chocolate instead of vanilla, you need to simply smile and move on. And the bigger the wedding, the more thing there are that can and sometimes do, go wrong. But having the wrong cake is no excuse to throw it at anyone or leave your reception in a huff. At the end of the day, a cake is just a cake. It didn't destroy your wedding or your life. Instead of falling apart, simply eat your cake and enjoy it.
Perfection is a Myth
Now we can move on to the idea of perfection. Every bride-to-be wants to plan the perfect wedding day. But no one can live up to that much pressure. Just remember that perfection is a goal rather than an attainable end result. The best way to get close to perfection is to make sure to plan ahead and keep track of all of your wedding details. However, once the day comes when you are ready to walk down the aisle, it's time to let it all go, take a breath, center yourself, and relax.
Remember to Smile
Think back to the day when you went on your last job interview. You were so nervous, you nearly fainted. You needed to be careful of everything you said and did, finding a way to explain why you were leaving your last job without actually saying a bad word about anyone. That's the attitude you need to pull out of your bag of tricks when your new mother-in-law criticizes your hair, or when the buzzed best man grabs the mic from the band and tells stories that were never meant to be shared in public. No matter what happens, stay calm. If you lose your cool, you'll be labeled a bridezilla forever.
