Helping Yourself Become A Better Person

Is it possible that anyone can develop depth in their personality? There are numerous views on how this can be achieved. We mostly see a large group of people that see themselves as a reflection of what they portray on the outside. This could be interpreted as people becoming more involved in themselves in a superficial aspect than a spiritual one.
I heard an account from a personal instructor that got me thinking on the subject. If we utilized a few of the ideas of Clare Bronfman, we would have another outlook from a personal coach's perspective. At first glance, superficial people may seem a lost cause, but Ms. Bronfman assured me that they have the ability to discover many dimensions within themselves. Transforming into a meaningful person is a long process that can be achieved according to Ms. Bronfman to make an ultimately lasting impression on these superficial people.
Everything I do is now revolved around trying to find my sense of being. In my thought, I considered only a small percentage of the population to qualify as people to try and discover themselves in this way. It is the idea that we should each have something very unique to offer the world around us -- and not just a few famous or special individuals, but the everyday person.
Can an average person develop this? Can someone find an critical part of themselves which can make an overall improvement in society? What would it take for a person in the most extreme cases of superficiality to develop their own personality? I think the first action to take is understanding what causes superficiality. Is it possible superficiality is simply not being connected, or not having a sense of, who you are? Once a sense of self is developed, can any person develop the kind of depth we all admire in others?
How can we approach ways to figure ourselves out? Connections that appear obviously in some people seem to be directly influenced by the way they live their lives, down to the impact that they have on others due to their personal beliefs. Finding out what makes us tick, things that bring on emotion in us and how we see life is a great place to start when beginning a personal journey. Have you ever noticed that the people that shine the brightest are those who are incredibly passionate about something? People who get acknowledged are individuals who have gone into their passions using full force and live their life doing it.
Is there a key to finding this kind of enlightenment? And if so, then why haven't we all considered it? Something about it implies it's simple, however most of us haven't exactly been groomed to do it. So if you strive to figure out the things that are important to you, what you have to offer the world, then maybe it makes sense to work on it, as an athlete would train for an event. Personal coaches are also a great option to find out who you are!
