Comedians, social psychologists, and lay people everywhere have repeatedly joked, analyzed, and wondered why men will not ask for directions when they're lost. Some say it is genetics, while others quip that Columbus did not need directions and neither do present-day men.
Some observers note that being lost reveals a sense of helplessness that many men will never willingly experience, which makes sense in this society. Our culture may claim to abhor violence and aggression in men, but deviations from traditionally masculine behaviors bring forth almost instant ridicule and derision. Men are encouraged from a young age to be strong leaders who suffer in silence; not confused, blathering followers.
That kind of stoicism may be wonderful on the battlefield or ball field, but in regards into the bedroom, you can get unnecessary chaos and frustration for both partners. The emotional vulnerability that men fear so much often does not allow to enable them to ask for the affection that they tend to want more as time passes. Sometimes men have finished being the ones to initiate sex or intimacy. Light some candles, give him a surprise foot massage, get new lingerie, plan a movie night in the living room but spend the duration of the film making out, or just sit while you're watching fireplace and listen to him talk about work or sports
If a woman is not comfortable with such forthright approaches, there are less direct but equally expressive ways for her to let her willingness and desires being known. An easy, inexpensive option is to give him a sensual greeting card. It lets him know that she is thinking of him, she is still passionate about him, and wants to share that emotion with him in a physical way.
