eBay allows the selling or buying of any item which is legal, does not violate any legal terms, and does not violate eBay's own restricted items policy. The website also permits the buying and selling of intangible goods. Auctions are often used by companies worldwide in order to sell their newest products. United States and United Kingdom members are allowed to buy and sell on eBay according to their country's currency.
There have been controversies on the popular website. One such example is a man who tried to auction his own kidney, which is illegal in most places.
