Understanding Common Home Security Complaints When Using A Security Monitoring Service
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
While most complaints related to home security are related to home security systems, one can also have complaints related to accounting, contractual obligations and other issues when purchasing a security system for the home. As such, one may want to ask as many questions as possible about common home security complaints before purchasing such a system. For, while a security system and monitoring service can provide a great deal of comfort and support, one also wants to be cautious what one signs in relation to such a purchase.
Of course, while the most common security complaints are those related to service, other issues can include advertising, billing and transferability of such systems. As such, asking as many questions as possible about the system and service during the initial purchase is always a good idea. In addition, as one particular complaint by many is that individuals were unaware of signing up for automatic renewals under and extended user agreement, one may want to pay particular detail to any fine print in any agreements or contracts one may sign with such a security monitoring service company.
Another, is that one is often offered a free alarm with free installation, only to find out that an expensive service agreement must be purchased in order to receive the free system. So, while the free aspects of such a system can save one a little money, one must decide for oneself whether one is comfortable working with a company who uses what many consider, misleading offers. Of course, if one needs such a system and can afford the service at the time such an offer is made, one can save at least a little money on the hardware required for a service to monitor the home on an ongoing basis.
Although, if one is using a reputable alarm company, often such issues can be taken care of on an immediate basis. Still, it is not much good to have an alarm system, if one is not contacted when such an alarm goes off. In addition, if one is planning on moving to a new area in which a different monitoring service is required, one may want to wait until such a move is complete before having a security system installed as often such security systems are non-transferable.
While another common complaint is that if one decides to move or use a different monitoring service, both the system and service are non-transferable. Although this may often be the case, if one is planning on staying in the home for awhile, one can also increase property value and lower insurance premiums by installing such a system. So, while such a system provides security to the home, there are also other benefits to owning one.
Although, before signing any paperwork, one need be sure and read through any and all obligations carefully so that one does not get caught by surprise by automatic renewals or other fees which may be charged to an account. For, while it is great to have security for the home, it is also important to protect financial matters. As such, only when one reads all such materials, including any fine print, can one rest assured one is getting the deal which one has been offered.
Otherwise, one can often find questionable charges on a credit or debit card statement in the future. This is especially true for those who do not realize one signed up for automatic future renewals during an initial purchase. However, if one contacts the alarm company and bank, often such matters can be resolved. Although, if the company has a copy of a signed contract, then the individual may have a tougher time having such charges removed.
To this end, it is always good to know what one is signing before one signs any form of agreement or contract. For, often stipulations related to future withdrawals for a variety of fees or renewals can exist. So, while some common home security complaints relate to the system, most often complaints relate to service. As such, in order to get the most dependable security service possible, one need be sure and read all reviews related to both hardware and the ongoing security monitoring services associated with such a system.
