Lots of criminals lurked around the corner in the fearful neighborhood where I lived when I was little, but they never harmed us. Still, it was not good for one not to worry because they could eventually change that mindset.
I was eventually able to get out of the locale a few years later. Still, my fears did not subside and I get scared when there is a crowd of people. All I could think of is that they were out to get me.
A friend of mine, who came from a similar neighborhood, showed me her collection of non-lethal self defense products one time. She had most of them, from pepper sprays to stun guns, personal alarms and safety lights. My eyes widened at the sight. It seemed like military artillery to me.
It was after that encounter that I began to bring a dog repellent spray, nap alarm for drivers and other non-lethal self defense products myself. My strength would never be enough to fight off the bad guys, and even if I had to, I do not think I have much of it anyway.
A few years later, I was able to trust one person who became my husband. Even when we were on a date, I had to carry the non-lethal self defense products with me, just in case I needed to use one. It was funny to think about how my husband was so scared then.
Despite not having to encounter these bad guys, thank goodness, I still make sure I carry my TASER C2 and lipstick pepper spray with me around. I even bought a set of non-lethal self defense products for my daughter who will be going to college.
There was not a chance for her to take out her travel alarm or cell phone stun gun weapons though, but there was this one boy she dated a few months back where her pepper spray came in handy.
Home alarms, pepper sprays and stun guns may seem to look very simple and harmless gadgets, but believe me, they can be of good use. I can attest to that based on the encounter my daughter had.
