In 2002 the Blu-Ray Disc Association was created to bring us Blu-Ray technology. The term "Blu-Ray" was coined as a reference to the blue laser technology which was used. This is a contrast with DVD technology which utilizes a red laser to read discs. Sony lead the way with the brand-new Blu-Ray technology.
