With the economy istrouble many people have found themselves forced to live on a tighter budget. For those looking to build a house it can seem hard to achieve this dream, but many people are learning there are many advantages to building prefabricated houses, or modular homes, instead of custom homes. While many individuals have a negative opinion of these prefabricated homes it is often because they get them confused with mobile homes. There are many differences between a mobile home manufacturer and a modular home company.
There are many similarities between mobile homes and modular homes, one being that they are both built in a factory. After being constructed these premade components are sent to the property by truck and assembled upon arrival. However while in this aspect the two houses are similar this is usually where the similarities end.
The difference between these two houses is how it is built which begins in a factory. While a mobile home is constructed usually from beginning to end in the factory, a modular home is not. Instead the factory works to create all the parts necessary to build the home and these pieces are then sent to the construction site to be put together creating the finished home. The onsite construction is similar to the process used to construct any custom home on the market. One of the biggest differences between a mobile home and a modular house is that a mobile home is permanently mobile; it can be moved from one location to another with ease. A modular home on the other hand is only mobile before construction; once it shows up on the site and is set up the home becomes permanent. Once built a modular home is built there is little difference between it and any other custom home.
Another large difference between a mobile and modular home is the way that they are assembled after they arrive at the build site. They both arrive at the site on the back of a truck but their construction is incredibly different. If it is a single wide mobile home it arrives in one piece and then needs to be immobilized on the foundation, a double wide mobile home usually comes in two pieces and simply needs to be attached and then immobilized. With a modular home however, the house itself comes in pieces that must then be assembled in a way similar to the construction of a traditional home.
You don't have to look at a modular home as inferior anymore and there isn't any reason that a small budget means you can't build your dream home, a modular home is a great way for you and your loved ones to construct the house of your dreams on a budget. These homes are an economical way to have a home built in just a few weeks; best of all the quality and style of your new home will be just as high as any traditional custom home for a fraction of the cost.
