Motorcycles have made their way from the early designs in the 1800s to the variable types that are available in the market today. Actually the early motorcycles were essentially motorized versions of bicycles having wheels of the same size.
Several companies were established that specialized in motorcycle production.
In the present day the motorcycles are classified on their types, designs and purpose. Generally they are classified under six main types. They are starting with cruiser then touring, sport, dual purpose, and lastly dirt bike. Under extra category sport-touring motorcycles are included sometimes. Cruisers are styled after American machines from the 1930s. The riding position actually places the feet forward in these bikes and the hands are up relatively a bit higher than the usual positions, and the back is slightly leaning back These bikes are not suggested for a long run but provides comfortable rides at a moderate speed. Subcategory to cruisers are known as chopper.
The next is the sport bike. These bikes punctuate speed, acceleration, breaking and control over paved roads. High performance engines inside a lightweight frame are available in sports bike. This type of bikes have an advanced system of suspension.
For covering long distance touring motorcycles are used.Touring motorcycles are equipped with engines which have large displacements, and front screens and offer air protection, Since they cover long distances, fuel tank of this bike are relatively bigger than other bikes. When we are looking for excitement and fun category dirt bikes comes in.Good engines with great acceleration and power are available in dirt bikes, which are light weight bikes. Compared to other bikes the frame of dirt bike are less durable. These bikes are used for racing over rough and muddy terrain or performing death defying jumps.
Machines that are used in the road and at times they can be driven to enter off-roads are called dual-purpose bike. Chassis of a dirt bike are the basis of dual purpose bike and have lights and instruments which allow them for entering public roads. In the world concept of scooter is not very new.125cc model is still same providing convenient travel at low cost, Scooter have been sold over fifty years ,but have been developed with immeasurably style. Starting from the retro styled to the modern ones with sharp and cool graphics and edges are the various types of scooter in the modern days.
There are lot of advantages of scooter over other vehicles; cost of scooter is very low as compared to car. The fuel consumption is also very insignificant when compared to a four wheeler. The basic rule is that smaller the engine size, better the mileage. It should be kept in mind that the smaller the engine size results in less power and low top speed.
