One woman has always attested to her dislike for cold weather but still she managed to travel to Antarctica on two separate occasions even if she was the least likely person expected to embark on such a trip. What she wants is to be able to travel again to this place. For the lady, she knew that she was going to the coldest point on earth. Being one of the few who are able to see something like this became her reason for agreeing to embark on the trip.
Finding herself working 825 miles from the South Pole, she was actually working as one of the support crew for scientists at McMurdo Station on the Ross Ice Shelf. What was referred to as a general field assistant, which she was, is a go for. A source given to her was Survival in Antarctica by the National Science Foundation which she needed to read beforehand. As well as an extensive physical exam she also needed a series of inoculations. Explaining why these are vital is the lack of medical facilities there.
Flying you out of the location with a helicopter can be a costly move for the government but this is the only way to get medical assistance once you are there and you can also get other people in trouble at the same time. Probably the hardest part of what they had to endure was the cold weather. Even in the summer, from October through December, there were temperatures of around 32 degrees. Sometimes weather in Antarctica dictates that workers only travel in pairs. At other times, travel outdoors is curtailed. When there are limitations, usually the weather is so intense. Being isolated gave her time to get to know herself. Changes happened to her. Before she went to Antarctica, she says she was pretty cocky, I thought I could pretty much whip the world. She is more aware that she cannot control everything that happens. As a result, she's says she's more relaxed now.
