Sun block, a hat, sunglasses, big towels, buckets and other beach toys for the children, and snacks to eat during the day are all important when you want to have the best time possible. Many people spend all day at the beach sitting in the sun reading a good book or collecting seashells and beach glass. Another item you should bring is a first aid kit. Even though many lifeguard stations have these, being prepared is important especially when you need to mend a child's wound.
There are different types of beaches for you to visit that offer fun in the sun. Public beaches are usually free and can be must more crowded than private beaches. If you want to meet friends and family, public beaches usually have more food and room to spread out. Get there early to claim your spot and enjoy the day. Private beaches are more secluded and usually include an entry fee. If you are looking for a quiet spot to read or nap, then this type of beach is a better choice. Even though these beaches are smaller, they are usually well maintained and you will not have to be around as many people.

For others, it is a place to meet new people, check out the latest bathing suit styles, and read books and magazines. This is why different beaches exist. Because there are many choose from when staying in sunny locations, you may want to visit both in order to become more acquainted with the different lifestyles that people lead.

Many people have parties on the beach after sun down, so you may be able to join them or have your own party. Resorts and beach front hotels also host gatherings that help people get to know each other. The beach can be a very social place when you are in the mood the meet new people.
