Help For The Best Man

Organising a stag party is an honour and a privilege, but at the same time can be a chore. It lands the person responsible with pressure to deliver a great event as people will remember a bad stag party longer than they will a good one.
When planning a stag party there are many areas to consider, firstly, how long the party should be. The fashion of late is to have the party span across a weekend or a least a full day.
Another important aspect of planning is to ensure that all the other group members are aware of how much it will cost as you don't want anyone to be spending outside their price range because if someone is spending too much money this will be all that they will think about and therefore that person will not be able to properly enjoy the events.
Once you've got a good idea of your budget, the next step is to start looking at venues and activities. It is best to choose activities that everyone can join in with and enjoy, regardless of age, physical fitness/ailments etc. This will limit your choices but overall will result in a more enjoyable event if you think of the group as a whole.
A venue that has some nightlife close by is ideal, as well as some other activities preferably. That way you can plan your activities and events for Saturday, follow them with a night out and stay in a local hotel, then have some lighter events planned for the Sunday. It is advisable to have any dangerous activities or those that involve driving planned for the Saturday, so that on the Sunday, the more easy-going and gentler activities can help nurse the hangovers.
Alternatively you can find a venue that runs multi activity events in one location which makes your organising much easier as you only need to talk to one venue. On top of this, they may very well have local connections with hotels, restaurants, night clubs etc, making your search that much easier.
To give an underlying theme to the whole weekend and you're not just stringing together a load of random activities, it is a good idea to have a light competition running throughout the events. This competition will need to be arranged so that everyone in the party has an equal chance of winning. A good way to achieve this is to somehow handicap the people who you know are good at certain events to allow the newbies to play with equal ability. This will create a positive and friendly atmosphere even among the guests who don't know each other all that well.
Something else to bear in mind is that the average age of people getting married is rising and so the athleticism of people attending stag parties is going down. You may therefore have some guests that are young and in their prime, but you may have some that are older and less active, and this is one of the things to take into account when planning activities that everyone can join in with.
It is difficult to decide between activities that will be really enjoyable to a few people and those that everyone will enjoy equally, however it is worth spending the time on making those decisions in order to organise a great stag event that is thoroughly enjoyed by all. Something else to consider is that the evening events should probably be split up for the sake of the older group members so that they can eat with the rest of the group, but then are free to depart if they want when the younger guests move on to a night club.
