Criminal records searches detail a person's record in the court system in their home state. These searches are used by many people to find out about a person's criminal past. They can check fairly easily if the person has had any misconduct in the past. People such as landlords, financial advisors, employers and even people that you date can check on your criminal activity.
The information that shows up in the criminal record search mainly depends on where you are looking for the information. It entirely depends on the city, state or even county that the person you are looking for resides. In some states it will put up everything, whether they were convicted or not, in other localities, it will pull up arrests and other charges that were brought up on the person. You could also find out if the person has charges pending and whether or not they have been acquitted of those charges.
Any charge will show up, even traffic offenses, as long as they have not been expunged from the record or taken off. Different localities have different time frames for when the information is taken off of their record.
By using information contained in a criminal background check, you can get the date of arrest, date of citation, and whether the case was dismissed or not. If the person payed a fine that resulted in a conviction then this will show up on their record as well. Anytime that they are found guilty, it will show up in their file.
Criminal records searches will show felonies that the person has been convicted of. It will include details such as distinguising marks (tatoos) that the person had when they were arrested or incarcerated. You will also find liens, whether they are federal or state, bankrupcies, and any kind of judgement that has been given to the person.
