What is success? For some it's having plenty of money, going on holidays, having choices. For others it's the ability to nurture their talents and make the most of them, giving themselves and others pleasure. Many people consider themselves successful if their family life is harmonious and their children have achieved their potential.
The success formula therefore depends upon being able to understand what you want in life. Often your goals are clear in your mind, but it's important to establish that what you're seeking to do is something you really believe in. There really is no point in trying to succeed if your heart is not in the project in the first place.
Having a strong commitment to whatever project you decide upon will undoubtedly be the first step to success. Unfortunately many people spend years trying to determine what they want to do in life. If you ask yourself what most interests you, then often this will lead on to determining what path you should follow.
The joy of doing something which both interests you and leads to financial gain is priceless. It's good to remember though that success is very rarely achieved overnight, and therefore belief in what you're about to embark upon is important.
Don't let yourself down by believing you're not capable, or you don't have enough time. Most successes are born out of the 'learning as you go' process. In other words, mistakes can often be turned around to create success. Very few successful people have an unblemished history, and rather than letting the problems stop them, they use them to go forward.
Knowing what you want to achieve in life is your first step to success. Don't cloud the issue with 'what if's', as negative thinking is destructive. If you keep your goals uppermost in your mind you're halfway towards making a success of your life. Remember 'if you think you can, then you can'.
Belief in your undertaking, whatever it may be, will help you to eliminate the doubts and give you the best possible start. Get to know your subject well, and in so doing you'll get to know yourself and your capabilities.
Whether you want to be a successful businessman, singer, actor, painter, writer etc., it all begins with being able to understand what you want in life. If you then focus on the success formula, setting goals and achieving them one at a time, success can be yours.
