So you want the room you stay in the most to look like a place where a princess should be? This is a common dream among little girls, and at times those bigger girls out there too. In order to pull this look off try using some velvets in the rooms along with some nice pink satin, and accessories that are gold and silver.
Begin by emptying the room. Paint the walls a soft pink or purple. This color, along with vivid accessories will brighten the room, preventing the dark furnishings from being to powerful. A light color is also a good base for any mural you may choose to use. A good mural for this room would include a lush garden with a castle in the background. If your artist is truly creative add a unicorn or horse grazing in the garden. A paint job like this is amazing by its self; however it is improved by coordinating the decor.
Try to stay with colors like pink, teal and purple for your decor that will be added to the room. These choices will add just the right amount of warmth into the decor too. Curtains are great with nice velvet in one of the colors stated above or something that will work to make the room look even more royal. Plus velvet is a nice way to keep the room at a nice temperature in any weather, saving on the cost of electric bills.
Area rugs should be added into this princess fairy tale look too. Plus the rug will add a nice warmth on your feet when you get up on those cold mornings. And with the rug it will also quite down the noise when you walk in your room. A nice print on the rug will add a nice look into the room try finding one that is medieval in looks it will make the room great.
Dark wood furniture is what the medieval look is also about. A lovely four post bed would be the perfect addition to this fairy tale room, but may be out of the budget. So don't worry you can find other furniture or turn your old furniture into a nice looking medieval set that is just perfect for your princess room.
For some good deals on furnishing you should try and go to discount stores, goodwill's, flea markets and garage sales. Even if you don't find the exact thing you were hoping for you may come up with some very inexpensive items that will work great in your fairy tale decor. Check out sales on the internet too and see if they have some great choices for you to use in the new room. Some places even have a program where people are wanting to trade for other items. With all these different options you may well create that fairy tale look without spending a lot of money.
You can always make the furniture darker by staining it, or make something else you have found for cheap more personal. Add some nice gold or silver decorations to frames or other objects. These touches will also bring out the royal feeling of a princess's living area.
These added touches make the ambiance of the room just right. But with any design you don't want to overdo the look either. It will only serve to make the room look worse and cheap. So go about making the princess room perfect by adding just enough to it.
