Because your neighbor is new to the neighborhood, it's difficult to purchase a housewarming gift they would like. But this should never stop you from purchasing a gift that warms the heart. Think about how you would pick out a gift for yourself should you be the new family in the neighborhood, what you saw while they were moving in, and things they've said to you in the rare instances when you saw them. If there are flower pots on the lawn, they may be into gardening You can consider giving them some gardening tools. Do they enjoy watching birds? A new hummingbird feeder or bird bath may be appreciated.
A personalized basket of fruit would probably be welcome. A basket of cookies is also nice, but you don't really know if they eat sweets. If you're giving a gift basket to sports fans, you may even add in some chips that they can munch on while watching sports on television. If they enjoy watching movies, consider giving them a box or basket with popcorn and certificates for free movies at a local movie rental business.
You can create gifts in a jar. Brownies, small cakes and even dry pasta can be placed in jars. You can also give cooked food dishes. You can also put together the items to make chili, favorite soups, and any number of other meal components. You can use any clean jar as long as it's sterilized well. Baby food jars are good for barbecue rubs or salad dressings. Quart mason jars or recycled jars of the same size are good for brownie mixes, cake mixes, or other larger recipes.
Decorate the jars with fabric to cover the lids, and the gift baskets with bows. You can make the instructions on the computer or hand write them on a recipe card that can be kept when the food has been made.
Something that their whole family will enjoy would do just fine. If there's a water park or other amusement park that sells year-long passes, you can get that.
Don't forget to sign the personalized card with a greeting that lets them know how much you think of them.
