What you need to do before anything else may sound a little difficult. You are going to find a way to clear out all the emotional garbage that you have been storing in your head. I understand that your heart is broken, but your mind must be clear before you can figure out where to go next.
Go shopping, go to the movies or just get out of the house! Anything it takes to clear your head, you must do it before moving on.
Once you know that your mind is clear, take some time and really think about where the problems in your relationship occured. Don't think you can put the blame solely on your ex. It takes more than one person to have a relationship.
Take this time and figure out what you would have done differently. Were there mistakes you made that you can see now that maybe you could not then? Can you honestly say that you know why the break up even took place?
Once you have really taken a look at your relationship as a whole, you need to leave your ex alone. Try and remember that they are having a hard time with the breakup as well. They do not need or want you constantly calling or texting them all day. You need to back off with no contact for about two weeks.
After you have done the above, it's time to get in contact with your ex. Call them up and tell them you would like to meet and discuss some things. Let them know this is not a date, but just a conversation. Knowing what to say at this meeting will make or break your chances of getting your ex back.
