You may not have noticed too many changes in your body at 3 weeks pregnant. However some women do have quite a bit of cramping during this stage. Other women can even tell that they are ovulating. And yet others may have a lot more discharge than normal. And some may not begin to notice any changes at all for another few weeks into the pregnancy.

Sometimes at about 3 weeks along there is a little bit of bleeding. It may even happen during conception. Because it is so little many women don't pay any attention to it and others just assume that it is simply spotting having to do with their periods. This typically occurs about 6 days after the initial fertilization.

It is very important that you begin to take good care of yourself during this stage of pregnancy. You will want to discuss an exercise program with your doctor. He can help you decide on the right level of activity to help keep you and your baby healthy. Also discuss with your health care professional what types of eating habits you will need to adopt to keep you and your baby healthy and growing.

You may not feel very different at this early age of pregnancy. There may be some boating and because of the change in fluid levels you may gain some weight. It is not anything to be too concerned about at this stage. You will continue to grow and gain weight as your body changes in response to the baby's growth and development. Your shape and size will continue changing each week throughout your pregnancy.

Usually during the course of your pregnancy you will gain between 25 to 35 pounds. Too little weight gain is just as serious as too much. Proper weight gain should be something you discuss with your doctor. For those who are carrying more than one baby there may be significantly more weight gain. The weight gain is attributed to the buildup of fluids, the growth of the placenta and changes in the uterus and the growth of the baby. There is also an additional 7 pounds that is stored to help the body during breastfeeding after the baby is born.

There are many changes going on in your body that you may not yet feel. You may have begun some morning sickness but it should pass as you progress into the second trimester.
