Looking Forward To Spring's Activities

It's February and in the northern plains where I live it's cold and dreary. February may be the worst month of the year from a weather perspective. But in a few weeks the weather will lighten up, the ground will warm and small sprouts will show up if you look closely.
When Spring finally arrives with all it's glory, we all have an innate human desire to get outdoors. We also love to celebrate - really just about anything. Two traditional hallmark occasions of Spring are graduations and weddings.
If you've got a graduate in the family, no need to stress out over planning some huge gala. In fact some of the best graduation parties I've attended have been simple outdoor events with no more than a grill, beverages, snacks and a graduation cake.
Weddings are more formal affairs. Months go into planning. From scheduling a photographer, finding a venue to hold the reception and, for the bride, finding the perfect dress, getting it fit and then finding all the accessories can take more time than one could possibly imagine.
Weddings can sometimes be simpler without losing any elegance. Instead of a pricy room to rent you could, just as you do with a graduation party, have the reception in your backyard with a large tent. If you have sufficient electrical outlets on the outside of your home, you can rent a portable dance floor and DJ to provide music.
Outdoor weddings like this are best done during the day and in locales where it isn't likely to be too hot or too windy. Because the crowds tend to be larger for a wedding than for a graduation party, you'll need to be sure your house can hold the group should foul weather sneak up on you.
Because outdoor weddings are a bit less formal, the groom and groomsmen can often look quite nice in suits and avoid the rental of tuxedos. I've even seen a wedding where the groomsmen just wore matching shirts and ties with some very nice slacks and skipped the suit jacket and it was still a very lovely occasion.
You should do a little planning for the reception and storage of gifts brought to either a wedding or a graduation party. With people coming and going and so many paths to exit from the celebration, you don't want an uninvited person coming by to make off with important gifts.
Yes Spring is the time of celebration - particularly for brides and grooms and graduates. There will be necessary planning to ensure a wonderful celebration but it will certainly be well worth it.
