The History of Grills

There are several types of grills that are in common use today throughout the world. Most grills are either fueled by gas or charcoal. Many people claim one side or the other provides a more fulfilling grilling experience.
Grills are used worldwide and are part of a world heritage. In the United States, grilling got started when the relative of Henry Ford, E. G. Kingsford suggested that a charcoal plant be placed next to Ford's automobile plant.
In the 1960s, outdoor gas grills were finally invented in Arkansas by two men who worked for a power company. The power company wanted William G. Wepfer and Melton Lancaster to design a new way to get customers to buy and use natural gas in order to increase sales and profits. These two men came up with the outdoor gas grill as a fine way to market natural gas.
Typically charcoal grills use lump coal in order to cook food. The grills come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.
Additionally, there are also a wide variety of grill types including different sizes and shapes such as square, rectangular or round. Some grills have lids to encase the food and others are open cased. Some even have venting systems or heat control systems to better cook food.
Burners are also very important in the grill system because they are the source of the heat and therefore the actual source of cooking the food.
Gas grill burners are created out of stainless steel, aluminized steel or cast iron.
Other important parts of the grill include the cooking grid, rock grate and heat shield. The grid holds the food above the heat while the head shield protects the burner from the dripping of fat, grease and other objects that may fall during the cooking process. The rock grate is also designed to do this purpose and disperse heat to get a better cooking experience.
