Want the best exercise to lose belly fat? Well, how about 3 exercises? Skip the typical ab exercises, like crunches, situps and leg lifts and you cannot help but burn belly fat while performing these high intensity whole body workouts that will boost your metabolism... thus building rock hard abs & core, but also creating a much better fat-burning workout than a typical ab workout.
With this workout, you can lose your belly fat without doing any typical ab exercises like situps and crunches. The format is to perform a mini superset of 3 belly slimming exercises.
The 3 exercises are 1. Renegade Dumbbell Rows 2. Front Squats with Barbell 3. Mountain Climbers on Floor
A good rep scheme to use with this could be 3-4 sets of 8 reps for each exercise, or more sets for less reps, such as 5 sets of 5 reps of each exercise. Instead of counting the number of reps, you can do mountain climbers for say 30 seconds.
Renegade dumbbell rows
Start in a pushup position with the hands on 2 dumbbells. Then you row with one arm while holding a dumbbell and balance your body with the other hand on the other dumbbell which is on the floor. Once you bring that arm back to the starting position, row with your alternate arm while stabilizing your body with the first arm. You will feel this in all your abs, because you will have to use them to stabilize yourself while doing these rows. Trust me on this... your abs will get a real good workout!
Front squats
These are similar to back squats, however with the barbell in front of your body on the front of your shoulders instead of resting on the upper back as in back squats. Cross your arms, point your elbows away from you in front of your body and hold your barbell on the front of your shoulders.
You may not get the form right immediately, but with practice and some help from a trainer, you will get it right. You wil really have to use your abs to stabilize your body during front squats. This looks like just a leg workout, but your abs will get a big workout too!
Mountain climbers
Start in a pushup position and then shuffling your feet in and out so that your knees are moving in under your chest and then back out to starting position. It is kind of like climbing a mountain, but you are on a flat floor. For a more intense version, move your hands back and forth about 8-10 inches while you are doing the leg movements. Do these and you will feel it over your whole body, because they work much more than with standard mountain climbers.
Take 30 seconds rest between each exercise. Rest about 1-2 minutes after completing each "tri-set" before repeating.
Your abs will get a great workout and you won't be doing any direct ab exercises. Do this and you will understand what I mean!
