If you have been keeping bees for a while, you will be must to start splitting your bee boxes and raising your own queens. You will also be wanting to whip another hives for new beekeepers. It is much easier to start these another boxes in a scaled-down box than in a routine ten frame beehive.
A Nuc, or nucleus colony, is a narrow five frame container to begin more bee boxes. There are many styles of beginning these miniature containers, but most of them go around around inclusion frames of eggs and larva, frames of honey and pollen, and an unfilled frame or two. After the frames are added, nurse bees are shaken into the hive to take keep tabs on of the larva.
The bees will take keep tabs on of making an additional queen from the larva that was added. Eventually, she will emerge, mate, and then start laying eggs. At this point, the next step depends on what your goals are. You may want to remove the queen and add her to anadded container. Perhaps, you hand off the new box to a beginner beekeeper. If you are keeping them for a new hive, transfer the frames into a full sized ten frame hive or add anmore nuc box on top to warrant for development.
No matter what your next step is, you have a brand new hive of bees!
