The source of this disease is a fungus called "candida albican". It is known by different names but the yeast infection is the most common one: as it is used in lay man?s term. Biologically it is called vulvovaginal candidiasis.
The reason for this name is it effects usually occurs on vagina or at vulvo which is the female external organ and it is caused by the fungus called Candida. You should not confuse vaginal thrush with other bacterial infections because many of these infections almost have similar symptoms. During the onset of infection, the vagina and external organs of vagina gets inflated. One might feel itching in infected area. Itching is clearer during urination and intercourse. Another sign of vaginal thrush is the formation of red spots on the itchy areas.
More than half of the women undergo vaginal thrush at some point of their life. Women should not worry if they observe the symptoms, because it will just cause a temporary discomfort, no serious harm is caused by this infection. Usually women who have active menstrual cycles develop vaginal thrush.
A lot of remedies are available for vaginal thrush. You can find tablets which are both eatable and insert able. You just have to put them in your vagina and they will do rest of the work.
The treatment of the vaginal infection is available in the market. You can seek the physicians prescribed drugs. Once you start them you have to complete the course even if the infection vanishes in one or two days. It is important to complete the cycle. You can also try some yoghurt on the infected area. Yoghurt has lactic acid it has the peeling effect on the skin. It erodes the upper skin which have the fungal infection and so does the fungus. Its scientific application has not been proved yet.
Vaginal thrush does not spread through physical contact, so one should not worry about the sexual intercourse but it can cause pain. Arm pits, vaginal and navel area or even child?s bottom should not be kept air tight most of the time. The route to fresh air should be open. You should always keep your body clean.
