I live in Northern California in the Sierras and love to hike through the woods. The quiet is wonderful but the roar of tinnitus changed all of that. The walk was suddenly disturbed by the ringing of tinnitus.
When ringing of the ears enters your life on a permanent basis our main motivation in life is how to Get Rid Of Tinnitus. Can it be cured? What's the treatment like? Most people with tinnitus say that loud noises at work are why they suffer now. Many people have the same problem and hear ringing in some degree.
My tinnitus came from a common cause: loud music. I'm a musician and my job consisted of playing and listening to electric guitars played loudly and the hard pounding of cymbals.
The first place most tinnitus patients go for treatment is the doctor. There, they are told that there is no cure and are often given some type of drug that either is a tranquilizer or a drug that is supposed to somehow lower the roar. Do the drugs work? Do they get rid of tinnitus? They didn't for me. In fact, I felt worse.
My tinnitus progressed from a mild ringing that went away if I didn't work for a few days to full blown roaring that never left. I visited my doctor and he said there was no known cure as yet and gave me some prescriptions. The drugs were only effective in numbing me but did little to lower the noise in my ears. Drugs and their side effects was not what I was after.
It's very common for tinnitus patients to say that the first way they were affected was inability to sleep. I had this problem and ear plugs helped at first. Then nothing worked and I experienced many sleepless nights. I mean sleepless!
I have a program that I bought and downloaded on my computer that combines exercises to relax the body and mind with biofeedback to help the relaxation process and increase circulation. Increased circulation is believed to be helpful in treating tinnitus. The bonus is that these programs also give me a much more positive outlook on life and especially in dealing with my ears ringing.
As I said previously, lack of sleep is one of the problems that tinnitus patients experience. Caffeine or anything that makes sleep more difficult should be avoided. Exercise can really help the sleeping process. It will relax you in a natural way and tends to make sleep come much easier.
Changes in diet made a difference, as did cutting out coffee and other caffeinated beverages. When you're not sleeping, caffeine only will make your condition worse and has also been linked to causing irritation to the nerves in the inner ear. There are many claims as to what can give relief from tinnitus but I feel that the secret is in the combination of methods and treatments.
