Regardless of age our skin becomes oily. Our skin becomes oily because there is too much production of sebum. Sebum is a natural moisturizer of our body. Although it is a moisturizer, too much of sebum somehow causes skin damage. Accumulation of too much sebum makes the skin greasy, heavy skin texture and thick. Whenever this happens the pores of the skin may be blocked thus formation of blemishes, pimples and wrinkles occur. Although it is not an advantage, one good thing of having an oily skin is it makes the aging process a bit slower than usual.

Treating oily skin is not very easy. It needs a huge amount of patience because it needs time to treat the skin problem. There will be a lot of changes in our lifestyle to achieve desired results.

Clean or wash your face two to three times a day especially if you are frequently outdoors. A good mild cleanser or facial wash that has no fragrance and a tepid water to wash are ideal. Rinse with cold water as it will constrict and close your skin pores leaving your face refreshed and clean. If water is not available, always bring with you a pre-moistened cleansing pad to wipe off the excess oil on your face.

Rest. One needs to have the right amount of sleep. When we are awake even at the wee hours of the morning our skin cells tend to produce excessive amount of sebum. Sebum is natural oil or moisturizer of our body. Even if it is considered as a moisturizer, excessive secretion of this to our skin makes the skin greasy and thick.

You must follow a daily skin care routine, you should start by cleansing your face to get rid of oil in your face. You can get rid of the tick and grease feeling just by washing your face with a facial cleanser on a daily basis. Another benefit is that it will remove dirt and toxins that contain free radicals which we have collected during the day. Those outside elements are also a cause of an oily skin.

Instead of including fried and fatty foods enjoy a good vegetable salad with fresh fruits on the side. It is important that you also avoid eating junk foods that do not contain any nutrients and just weakens your immune system.

The oil- free moisturizer can be a good alternative as night cream. Always clean and wash your face before applying night cream. Be sure to look for products that contain natural ingredients or compounds proven to be effective such as jojoba oil, cynergy Tk and babasu wax.

Oily skin can be due to many factors such as: heredity, hormonal shifts, cosmetics or make up you use and even the most common hot weather. This problem is quite common in teenagers because of hormonal shifts to adolescence. But it can happen at any age too. If you have to look on the brighter side of life, oily skin tends to slow down as you age because skin dryness comes with it.
