How To Make Your School Reception Area Work
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
The school reception space can be a hectic place. Staff, students and visitors can all be moving through this area at one time. It could be described as the hub and by inference the most important areas in the whole institution.
Most of the visitors who come to the school arrive at and depart from here. In fact many institutions may require this and have a compulsory visitor sign in and out book so it is known who is in the school at all times.
It is important that people using this area are left with a good impression. This maybe the only part of the campus that some visitors get to see. The layout and decor of this space needs to be well designed and suitably impressive. Colors should be chosen for their calming effects and sound proofing used to keep the area as quite as possible.
This impression can be enhanced if the school reception desk is easy to find by its position in the area and perhaps its appealing design. Staff are often busy so it is desirable to have a dedicated waiting alcove out of the way of the main traffic area. The seating for the visitors also needs to be reasonably comfortable and attractive.
It may also be desirable for the institution to show off the work of its students and to make information on the school easily available. A well laid out display area would therefore be a welcome addition to be incorporated if there is sufficient space.
If the space is big enough it could also be used for brief meetings. Many sales representatives visit and these people can often be attended to in this area. In these situations school reception modular furniture might be a useful addition. Furniture that can then be rearranged quickly to accommodate, say, a salesman's samples could be desirable.
