Most people today use their computer a lot. The only problem is that it often sits in another room, and so people spend their evenings in splendid isolation looking at the screen, trying to do some work whilst the family enjoys the television or social chit chat.
Most people do need to do work on their computer at home there is no doubt about that. That is the price to be paid for life in the modern era. It does have some advantages however, because many people are now able to take some days every month away from the office, because they can work at home on their computer.
There is a lot of sense in owning a notebook or a laptop. It will transform the way you work, where you work and what you do.
We all travel as part of our job, many of us on a train on a daily basis, others by plane. A laptop used sensibly can cut down the hours formerly spent at home in front of a computer screen apart from the family group. Just give up a few minutes chat, or newspaper reading on the train and exchange that for time spent with the family.
If you do that, things at home won't be the same. Sitting with the family, even if you have the laptop ever present is somewhat different to being behind a closed door. This time has been created by sensible use of travelling time.
Perhaps you think laptops are not up to much. The graphics aren't great, it was difficult to play games, and the size of the memory was too limiting, the battery life too short. That is completely wrong.
Do you really want to be playing computer games, or designing a new house, or playing wargames. Come off it, this is at best unlikely whereas its much more likely you will want to be able to sit in a bar or on a quiet park bench in your break and use a laptop to do what you would have had to spend hours doing in the evenings. Work when it is convenient and by the way don't believe what they tell you about battery life.
Get a laptop, and release yourself. Enjoy the freedom to take your office with you, and not be a slave. Get your life back, and get more effective with a laptop.
