In the opinion of many, the Fat Boy Lo for 2011 is one of the top ten most striking motorcycles ever designed. The image of cool power is presented in four stock color schemes that are hard to improve upon. The colors are Vivid Black, White or Black Denim and Silver Pearl. In each style, the black engine and distinctive black exhaust pipes that lead into chrome tailpipes present opportunities for customising a Harley Davidson Fat Boy. This article is the third in a series on some of choices you have when making your Fat Boy the most awesome looking bike in town.
Engine chrome kits have become must haves. Chroming up a Sportster is so common these days that stock looks bare without it. Engine chrome kits typically include chrome covers for gear, transmission sprocket, chain inspection and derby covers, inside and outside rockers and, of course, all gaskets.
Covering the spark plug and headbolts with a bridge of chrome is popular. Kits are sold that include the proper headbolt mounts. If you buy a headbolt bridge kit, make certain the mounting hardware is included.
A chrome battery cover is for the Nightsters left side. Chrome for the oil tank on the opposite side is also recommended. Kits for both are sold as a pair.
The base of the dual cylinders on the left of the engine can be chrome. This nicely fills the gap between the engine and the cylinder flanges. Looks best with chrome gaskets.
The fat rear end of the XL 1200 cries out for enhancements. Several options are available. The swing arm can be chrome. So can the upper and lower belt guards. Customising a Harley Davidson XL 1200 N is the fulfillment of a dream. Make your Sportster an expression of you.
