Heading westwards from Kununurra and on the way to Broome, you may come to the Fitzroy Brook and Fitzroy River Crossing. Fitzroy Stream Crossing is found in the western Kimberleys and is encircled by rich pastoral land which in effect , are the floodplains of the Fitzroy River.

It's been recommended that a 20 kilometre wide reef ran for at least 1,000 kilometres from Kununurra, north to Derby then around to Fitzroy Crossing. Geikie Gorge, Tunnel Stream and Windjana Gorge were all formed as a consequence of millions of years of brook erosion.
It really is worth staying at Fitzroy Crossing solely to see the impressive gorge formations and the wildlife, fish and birds that live in them. Bush walking is a great way to explore these wonders close up. Tunnel Stream is a naturally formed tunnel through a limestone reef, being 750 metres long, 12 metres high and 15 metres wide. It is really impressive as well as unique.
