Tourist accommodation Ponta do Ouro is plentiful and varied. Accommodation offerings vary from the real rustic camping and chalets to the middle of the road family type accommodation to the luxurious lodges. If you are a diving enthusiast, you would feel very comfortable at the accommodation the diving clubs offer as the accommodation is good and you will also be between like minded buddies. Fisherman, being pretty single minded, ('the big one!') seem to prefer the more rustic chalets where they can come and go and not worry too much about house work as the chalets are serviced but other than that pretty much a chalet and that is that. One of the lodges offers luxurious tents as accommodation with en suite bathrooms and other luxury touches, in the bush, as it were. Now that the accommodation side of things is sorted out, let's have a look at the rest of Ponta (as its fondly called) and what it has to offer. The great attraction to this little village in the southernmost tip of Mozambique is scuba diving. The water and the 14 reefs are in pristine condition. The main reason for this is the fact that the country was embroiled in a civil war for some 20 odd years, which means that the diving areas were unreachable.
The reefs vary in depth from 10 meters to some 43 meters and therefore offer something for every diver novice or experienced. The laid back atmosphere friendly Portuguese restaurants and pubs and their fare including Pao (Portuguese bread) makes for happy relaxation.
