That is, do your visitors stick around to find out more, or is your site nothing more than a big business advertisement? If they aren't staying to view more of your site then you're missing out on one of the main principles of online business: information rules.
So let's say you've currently got yourself Post-It note traffic. The kind of traffic that arrives but leaves just as quickly. Boy, the logs look great, but where are the sales? But fresh, new, material that adds to the education of your visitor. This can't be beat for making them stick. Make sure one article leads to another valuable place on your site until finally it leads to the sale. Free advice builds confidence in your target audience. After all, how do they know if you've got the right stuff if you don't tell them a little to prove it?
Learning Tools:
You can also provide other ways for your visitors to learn, including forums, eBooks, books and more. And, if you change your content regularly, your visitors will keep returning to see what's new.
Your Newsletter:
Yes, the newsletter. The number one tool for bring your visitors back to your site. If your aren't capturing them the first time with a free opt-in newsletter, then you have to keep going out and finding them. That's very expensive. Your newsletter is a forever link to your clients and prospects.
The Treasure Hunt:
This is a contest idea where you'll give something away to your visitors. But this is a contest with a difference. Try placing a small graphic on different areas of your website and ask your visitors to find them each week. The benefit of this is that, when your visitor takes part in the game, they'll have to look through different areas of your website. In the process, they will learn even more about you.
