Considering that 8 out of 10 clients on your lot want to buy a vehicle the same day, you want to be the auto salesperson that decides to sell it to them. Getting, keeping and closing the sale are your goals. SO here are a few tips to help you hone those skills.

Tip #1 Conversation When your customer enters the lot, your opportunity to make a first impression is swift. Smile, and start a conversation. Ask about whom the car is for and what it will be used for. Don't forget to include color and price range, as these qualifying questions can be very important in guiding the client to the car of their needs. Don't just stand around talking to other salespersons, as this makes you completely unavailable and will lower the opinion of the client; while having to search for someone to help them.

Tip #2 Manuals, Books and Commercials The lot you work at may or may not have a paper inventory you can look at to learn the options available. You can use commercials, manuals and books to find out anything you need to know about your vehicles including the mpg rating. Of course being on the lot all day, you can always walk around and get inside each model of vehicle to see the options. Make sure you know how to use the options as well as practice your demonstration of them now. Nothing would be worse than having to ask another salesperson the answer to a question your client has, because the client will lose faith in your abilities.

Tip #3 Car Salesman Secrets Some of the senior salespersons at your company may have tips for you, and these can be of help. But you need to develop your own method of making a sale. Always keep the client comfortable, and keep the conversation going towards the end result: the sale. Guide the conversation, and do not ignore questions or concerns of the client. Remember, they are what will make your paycheck.

Tip #4 Closing When closing the sale, the average client will have objections. Some will say they need to talk it over with a spouse, some will offer that the cost is too exuberant. Whatever the objection, you need to have a comeback, a reason against the objection. If you have told them the price is higher than they expected, point out that the cost of the safety features included are well worth saving their family's life in an accident. If told that the spouse should be present, offer to bring them into your office to make a phone call to the spouse. Give the customer no reason to turn back and leave. Once a customer is off the lot, the sale is gone.
