Dogs Naturally Love Cages
Dogs want to be provided with a place to retire after several hours of playing and roaming around. They actually seek an enclosed place where they can be free from harm. You may notice that your pet actually loves to stay under the bed or under the couch. They might enjoy running around and playing outside but they almost always seek the safety of a corner when they want to retire.
Furthermore, your dog will know when the place is made especially for him and would want to keep it a suitable place to live in. He would let you know when he wants to go potty in order to keep his cage clean. Cages therefore are good tools for potty training your pet dog.
If you feed him inside the cage, he will associate the cage with positive things which will help in making him get used to it. You can also provide him with toys that he can play with inside the cage.
Are Dogs Safe Inside The Cage
Dogs love to chew on anything they can get their paws on. Your shoes, furniture and other items are never too safe when there is a puppy in the house. They will also chomp on electrical cords which could harm them or the unsuspecting person about to use the appliance as it can get short circuited.
Another thing is if your pet ever gets sick and you need to take him to the veterinarian, you will need to get him in a cage to keep him from running away and harming himself or others.
Do Dogs Have To Be Kept In Cages All The Time
Your pet needs time out of the cage in order to be able to get some exercise and interact with other dogs and with humans too. Getting them inside the cage for very long periods can be bad for their physical and mental health. You should only keep them inside the cage in four hour intervals.
Don't worry about them getting the cage dirty with their poop because your pet will let you know when he wants to relieve himself. All you need is to keep yourself attuned to his every action and you will be able to tell by his behavior if he needs to go potty.
The most important thing to remember is to never use the cage as a form of castigating him for any bad conduct.
