Go to: Previous Article Next Article
Rodents, especially mice, are the cutest of all pests - but nevertheless, pests. Rodents will typically enter buildings and habitats surrounded by humans to look for food or to build their homes, and of course to get shelter from the environment.
But why is it so important to eradicate the threat by these pests? The main reason is that rodents can spread an array of diseases from plague to meningitis to leptospirosis. So there is much more exposure to diseases with rodents in your house than you can imagine.
Another thing is that rodents tend to eat away and destroy whatever comes in their way, like clothes, papers, cardboard boxes even wood. Mice and rats love to run-sack the kitchens at night. So a rodent control plan becomes a necessity as soon as rodents attack your property.
Rodents would even go on to damage your wirings and cables. And they won't stop here.they can even nip your toes if available. And the worst part is their breeding. They breed very rapidly, so rodent control is inevitable and should be done as soon as you find out about rodent infestation.
So when you see the tell-tales signs of a rodent infestation - and believe me the black droppings are hard to miss, you better think of eradicating the critters as soon as you can. How is it achievable? There are a number of things. But primarily is prevention. Try to prevent an infestation in the first place by making your property a not-so-welcoming place. Think of all the nooks and crannies where a home can be provided for the rodents, and then try to make sure they cannot enter those places.
Other things you can do about rodent control are a number of drugs available at your local drug store. They have an array of drugs available from powders to sprays to even poison. Decide about which is the most suitable for your needs. If you have children in the house, you might not want poison or any kind of powder lying in your property.
Another variety of rodent control is the trap. You can easily get hold of a snap trap or a glue trap. This old fashioned way of rodent control is very effective indeed, but a slow process nevertheless, if you have a big infestation this may just work perfect.
There now are electronic means of rodent control available in the market; electronic repellents that use sonic waves keep the rodents away.
If you have bush near or around your property, you might think of burning it up. Bush provides a nice shelter for the rodents, and for rodent control, burning the bush is very effective.
But, if you are not the type who wants to mess with the little critters yourself, or if the infestation is out of your control, you can always call in the pros. There are many companies out there for rodent control and they have technicians who specialize in rodent control. They will do a very neat and effective job as they are fully experienced. They will also advice you on how to prevent future infestations.
