Food can be enjoyable. You're not going to argue that, right? It just can just be so yummy. We all know that it's really just there to give us with the calories we need. But don't think of it that way. It just takes all the fun out of it! So remember that food can be fun the next time you go to pack up the motorhome for a road trip. Your food options on the road are many.
1. Camping classics: There's something fun and exciting about sitting around a campfire and actually cooking on the open flames. And when you're out and about vacationing in your RV you have this method at your disposal. Step out your door at an appropriate campsite and set yourself up with a campfire. Then you can go crazy with hobo dinners, hot dogs, Dutch oven apple cobbler or smores. And you can even douse the fire and head inside for a shower after the kids have you covered in marshmallow goo.
2. Normal everyday cooking: you are on vacation, but that doesn't mean that you have to cook/eat differently. You are welcome to keep up your normal eating habits on the road. That's one of the beauties of the motorhome kitchen.
3. Eating BBQ: this is a classic option and can definitely be enjoyed roadside. Just set up camp and settle in at a good spot before starting up the grill. Many RVs have a grill included in the set up, but if not...there are many campgrounds that offer grills as an amenity. Plus...new research suggests that BBQ is full of antioxidants.
If you're not excited about it...you should be. The University of Ontario did a study on BBQ sauce. They concluded that it often includes herbs and spices that are antioxidants. And these antioxidants can result in a boost to the immune system.
BBQ sauces at your local grocer typically include the ingredients that are recognized as antioxidants. Some of the types that can be beneficial are: roasted red pepper, garlic and herb sauce, jerk sauce, sesame ginger teriyaki, etc. Doesn't that just make it even more exciting to fire up the BBQ grill? It's healthy!
And to make it even more healthy you can grill chicken. Or you can take it a step at a time by choosing low fat cuts of steak or even just opt for all beef hot dogs.
But only if you want to, of course! The choice is up to you. You don't have to worry about eating healthy unless you want to. You are on vacation, after all. But do consider the new fun fact about BBQ sauce providing a boost to your immune system. Your fellow campers and grillers will probably get a kick out of that one!
