World of Warcraft has 14 different professions to choose from, one of which is Engineering. In this guide I am going to give and overview of the Engineering profession as well as some tips and tricks as to how you dominate this profession and make a heap of gold in the process.
All classes in WoW can learn the Engineering profession, but it's most useful to the Hunter. That's because Hunters main weapons are made up of guns, arrows, bullets and scopes. Other classes can use these items but these are the Hunters' main weapons.
Gnomes are the only race that receive a bonus from Engineering. While this might help you at lower levels, by the time you have a high level this advantage would have cancelled itself out.
I have always found Mining to be the profession that is most suited to Engineering. When you are ready to leave the starting area at the beginning of the game make sure you ask for directions to both Engineering and Mining trainers.
As an Engineer you will want to make sure you make a Gnomish Army Knife as soon as you can. There is no limitation regarding your characters level needed to make one but your engineering skill will have to be at 450. I highly recommend you do everything you can to make one of these as soon as possible - they have a wide range of useful benefits and uses!
One of the main reasons that I suggested you pair Engineering with Mining is that you'll need a lot of metal in order to upskill your profession. Mining can give this to you. Furthermore, mining is a great gathering profession to have as its one of the most profitable in WoW.
One negative you might come across as an Enineer is that you won't be able to sell everything you create. That's because not all players can use the items you create, some items are just too technical for non-engineers. You can still make a wide variety of items that will serve as cash cows however, so go after the gold with those.
